European shares mostly hewed to a tight range early Friday as investors waited for some key data that is likely to give some clues on the state of the U.S. economy, with shares in investment bank UBS higher after ousting its chief executive and pay-TV operator Premiere gaining on a report it's won the rights to broadcast German soccer games.
