Hi my name is Travis and I am a full time medical student in VA. I would like to see Siri and XM merge. This would help college students like I that enjoy commercial free radio enjoy it at a reasonable cost. I love having it but the cost is a little high for someone like me that pays so much for school. This would be an amazing merger that would benefit all. It would not be a monopoly there is way to much competition out there!

I don't believe this merger will hurt anyone and could even do some good, especially now when there seems to be so much lack of confidence in the markets. This merger could be just the thing to bring more to the table and a little less negativity to our slowing economy. I would like to urge the FCC to speed this merger of Sirius and XM radio.
The FCC constraints that are being urged are what the 2 companies want and plan to offer to the customers anyway. This merger should have been ready to be approved the day after the justice dept approved it. Why wasn't this work already done? If you wait much longer, competition will have killed both companies and customers won't have any satellite choice at all. ...but then again, I guess maybe that was your plan.
There is already too much outside competition for these companies. ...meanwhile, TimeWarner ate up Adelphia and my cable switched me to Comcast. Now I am stuck with HBO and can't get Showtime or else my bill will go up $40. Now THAT wasn't good for the customer. Sorry, that is off topic a little bit, but if the cable industry can do whatever they want and continually take more money for nothing from the customer, why is this merger such a big deal. ...because it actually helps the customer?
...and it's funny that you would want to make satellite offer ala carte channels...when you haven't forced the cable companies to do the same. I would love to pick my favorite 5 cable stations and pay $5 a month for each. A $25 dollar cable bill would be awesome. If it's good for the customer with satellite...then it's equally as good for the customer with cable.
Quit spending time, money, and energy trying to fix the satelitte merger that isn't broken and spend your resources to fix the cable companies.
